About Clisham Cottage Cottage rental includes
Clisham Cottage is tucked into the hillside above the picturesque village of Lochcarron on the West Coast of the Scottish Highlands. This wee cottage is approached via a flight of stone steps leading from the main street in the heart of this scenic village. Set right on the shores of the loch, surrounded by the spectacular hills and mountains of Wester Ross, Lochcarron is bounded by the sea-loch on one side and attractive cottages and houses that straddle the main street on the other and is one of the prettiest villages in the Western Highlands. The cottage is within easy walking distance of the local facilities, which include excellent restaurants, café, pub, and small shops. Clisham Cottage has recently been refurbished and re-decorated throughout and offers bright and attractive accommodation for two in a wonderful setting. There is an open-plan lounge / dining / kitchen area, a modern shower-room and good-sized twin bedroom. The surrounding area is renowned for its magnificent landscapes, incorporating mountains, rivers, lochs and sea. A paradise for lovers of the great outdoors, it offers unlimited sporting opportunities: climbing, hill-walking, fishing, canoeing, diving, sailing and mountain-biking are all available close by. The area is also a haven for wildlife. Otters and seals can be seen along the shore-line and dolphins are spotted in the bay. There are some spectacular drives in this part of the Highlands. A trip to Applecross via the highest road in Britain is a must. Known as the Pass of the Cattle and rising to over 2,000 feet, it affords amazing views across the Minch to the isles of Raasay and Skye. This beautiful, unspoilt peninsular, highlighted through the television programme Great Escapes, makes a wonderful day out, with dramatic scenery, beautiful beaches and excellent food at the local restaurants. Another superb drive is through the dramatic Torridon mountains to the stunning sandy beaches of Gairloch and the west coast, or take a trip to the vibrant fishing port of Ullapool further north; there is spectacular scenery in all directions. The charming sea port of Kyle of Lochalsh, gateway to the Isle of Skye, is also within easy reach. A glass-bottomed boat runs from here to view the sea life close to hand. The Gavin Maxwell Otter Centre at Kyleakin is well worth a visit and numerous distilleries and ancient historical sites can all be found in the region. The picture post card village of Plockton is also just along the coast. With its picturesque flower-filled gardens, little winding streets and pretty cottages lining the foreshore it is easy to see why it has also become a haunt for artists in recent years. This attractive cottage for two makes an ideal and accessible base for exploring this spectacular part of the Highlands.Property is all on ground floor level, has electric heaters. • Non Smoking • Fishing on site or near by • Beach close by • Easy Walking Access • Pub close to cottage • Pets allowed • Parking Available •
