Amongst the protected salt marsh and mud flats there are many well-situated birdwatchers’ hides, which offer the opportunity to catch a glimpse of the rare natterjack toad or one of the thousands of barnacle geese which return in the winter.
The nearby Galloway Forest Park is famed for off-road cycling and walking with the Seven Stanes and National Cycle Network also passing nearby. Watersports available at Loch Ken.
