Harport house enjoys an elevated position near the small village of Carbost with stunning views over the open water of Loch Harport and the impressive black cuillin mountain range.
The extensive gardens are cut into the hillside with free access to the surrounding hills and to the 17th century hill settlement which lies above the house.

Harport house is set in the wonderfully scenic area of Minginish on the shores of Loch Harport which is on the western coastline of Skye. Minginish is made up of townships (Small pockets of houses) locally they are; Carbost, Fernilea, Portnalong and Fiskavaig, but there are many more as you travel further afield. The lands of Minginish are varied with freshwater lochs, mountains, sea lochs, and sandy beaches, and historically is a rural farming area and has many animals grazing on the open croftland.
The community has a rich history and culture going back generations and many in the community still speak gaelic, Scotlands native tongue. You will find that the people here are friendly and accommodating and make visitors most welcome. The wildlife is also varied with a wide variety of birdlife; Sea and Golden Eagles are the most impressive of these but there are robins in the garden and waders on the seashore. indeed when you look across to the Cuillin mountains from the patio area, you are within touching distance of the animals which graze upon the land in front of the house.
