About Mill House Cottage rental includes
This former mill house dates back over 200 years and is reputedly the oldest house in Scotland's smallest Burgh of New Galloway. This cottage simply oozes character and some of the rooms are decorated in a Victorian Gothic style. The dining room even has a secret cupboard! The area around New Galloway simply offers all the best that nature has to offer from the amazing wildlife to the stunning views and scenery. Nowhere in the UK has more forests to explore and enjoy and The Galloway Park is Britain's largest covering an amazing 300 square miles. Combining ancient woodland, forest, moorland and lochs, it's here that you'll discover some fine views, and to top it all the forest has some of the darkest skies in the World, which allows clear views of the stars and that's official as Galloway has just won a dark sky award! The forest protects some wonderful secrets; the Raider's Road with its Otter Pool and Labyrinth, the Queen's Drive with its stunning Loch at Clatteringshaws and the beautiful Black Loch, and finally not forgetting the glimpses of deer and wild goats and the Glen 'O' the Bar viewpoint. There are rolling hills and open estuaries, a plethora of sandy beaches and rivers bursting with fish, making this an angler's paradise. Loch Ken is on the doorstep but it's not just a place for fishermen; the Galloway Sailing Centre is a great day out and the loch is a superb spot for a barbecue at one of the many loch side beaches. Each season offers a new sight to behold from the brilliance of bluebells, to the blazing autumnal colours. Leave your cars at home and admire the red squirrels. feral goats, deer and even watch the red kites being fed. Dumfries and Galloway is well known for its mild climate, diversity of recreational activities and unspoilt countryside. There is excellent hill walking to be had in the Galloway Hills; the Rhinns of Kells and the Rig of the Jarkness are just two of many delights just waiting to be discovered! There are some first class cycle routes as well as the highly acclaimed 7Stanes mountain biking at a number of venues in the area. The local towns offer diverse experiences for those who enjoy their food, for book lovers and for those who appreciate the arts.
