About The Auld Farmhouse Cottage rental includes
The Auld Farm House dates back 250 years and offers lovely holiday accommodation only 6 miles from Ayr and is perfectly placed for exploring everything that this wonderful area has to offer. From a magnificent coastline, to the Galloway Forest, to an array of culture, history and the arts, to a day at the races or even a day shopping at Belfast or Glasgow. And you can fly direct to the nearby Prestwick airport from Stanstead. There are over 40 castles in Ayrshire and the jewel in the crown is Culzean Castle the former home of the Marquess of Ailsa now owned by the National Trust for Scotland. The setting is magnificent commanding stunning coastal views. The surrounding Country Park is well worth a visit including the beautiful little sandy cove of Carrick. If you are a lover of Robbie Burns, the Burns National Heritage Park is close by in Alloway the poets birthplace. This is another top attraction of the National Trust for Scotland. Here you can travel back in time in the cottage in which Burns was born and walk in the footsteps of Tam o'Shanter to the Auld Kirk' and Brig o'Doon, immortalised in Burns's much loved tale cleverly brought to life in the audio-visual presentation within the Tam o'Shanter Experience. The museum displays the Worlds most significant Burns collection and the beautiful commemorative gardens are a special tribute to the life of Scotlands best loved bard. In summer, the Waverley Paddle Steamer offers excursions around Ailsa Craig which is now a bird sanctuary. Once seen never forgotten as the island rises majestically from the sea to over a thousand feet. Some say that the most beautiful island in Europe is The Isle of Arran and the crossing takes less than an hour from Ardrossan. The scenery is glorious with rugged peaks in the North the highest being Goat fell at 2866 ft, the south has green undulating hills and pretty little villages are scattered about the island. Arran is a haven for anyone who loves the outdoor life with wildlife, flora and fauna and geology. The Isle of Cumbrae boasts the smallest cathedral in Britain and has amazing wild flowers. For the cycling enthusiast it is an easy cycle around the isle. For the more adventurous cyclist then venture into the Galloway Forest park and sample the 7Stanes world renowned mountain biking. Whilst in the forest try a spot of stargazing as it has just won an award as one of only four places in the world to view the stars so vividly. If you are a lover of Robbie Burns, the Burns National Heritage Park is close by in Alloway the poets birthplace, as is The Brig ODoon over which Tam and his horse Meg escape in the famous tale of Tam O'Shanter. Of course Ayrshire is renowned for its golf courses at Prestwick, Royal Troon and Turnberry but did you know there is a treasure trove of other magical courses just waiting to be discovered. For history lovers, William Wallace and Robert the Bruce both have connections with the area. Wallace began his rise to fame by operating as an outlaw in Ayrshire and Bruce was born at Turnberry Castle. Ayr is home to Scotland's only grade one racecourse hosting the Scottish Grand National and the Ayr Gold Cup and if you need a new hat there is ample of choice in Ayr or an even greater choice in Belfast or Glasgow. Enclosed garden with patio area. Off road parking for 2 cars. • More than one bathroom or shower room • Non Smoking • Easy Walking Access • Pub close to cottage • Parking Available • Golf near by • Has a Garden •
